The area served by the project is part of the arid and semiarid lands of north Kenya between 1400 m. asl and 2300 m. asl, at the slopes of Mount Kenya (5920 mt. asl.). The land is divided in small propriety that are cultivated where the soil is soft. During the rain seasons farmers use to plant mais, beans, pee, potatoes.
