Basically almost all the community is of Meru tribe. The approximate population is 60.000 of the whole 16 units although the project is build for a demand population of 80.000.
Most of these people live in semi-arable land practicing small scale farming and keeping farmyard animals. The trend of keeping the farmyard animals is changed slowly in the last few years to keeping high-grade cattle especially where there is already the water.
